As you may know, I’m an organizer in Occupy Greensboro. I wanted to share with you the statement of solidarity we reached consensus on last night for Monday’s port shutdown. Please forward and share widely!
“We the people of Greensboro, North Carolina stand in solidarity with the people of Oakland, Anchorage, Astoria, Berkeley, Coos Bay, Denver, Eureka, Fresno, Homer, Houston, Humboldt, Long Beach, Longview, Los Angeles, Marin, Maui, Merced, Minneapolis, Olympia, Oxnard, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Seattle, Tacoma, Thousand Oaks, Vancouver, and New York City.
We stand in solidarity with the ILWU workers in their struggle against EGT, and with the port truckers in their fight against Goldman Sachs.
We have taken to heart the old labor cry than an injury to one is an injury to all, and so we will picket Walmart on Monday, at its busiest Greensboro location, as a part of the collective effort to expose the systemic injustices committed by the 1% against the workers of the world and the communities in which they live.”
